Stop Taxpayer Abuse Pass the Cost-Benefit Analysis Bill

When New York State government is facing a fiscal crisis, shouldn’t we be looking for the best value for our tax dollars?

We all know how to get the best bang for the buck. It’s called comparison shopping and it’s often done through “cost-benefit analysis.”

Year after year, the state of New York spends nearly $3 billion on private consultants, without determining if it’s the best use of our tax dollars.

Before raising taxes and cutting services shouldn’t the state do a cost-benefit analysis to make sure you get the best value?

Similar laws are already in place in Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, California, Connecticut and Vermont, and it will save New York state taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars each year.

Public employees are a better value for your tax dollars, but don’t take our word for it, pass the Cost-Benefit Analysis Bill and compare the costs yourself. The bill has already passed in the Assembly. Now it’s up to the Senate.
