Davis Vision Accredited

Achieving exceptionally high recognition for quality in virtually all areas of its operations, Davis Vision has become the first vision care Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) in the country to receive full accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)...The JCAHO is the nation's oldest and one of the most prestigious organizations assessing quality in health care administration.

Davis Vision administers the New York State Vision Care Plan provided to state employees represented by PEF.

 The JCAHO accreditation was awarded based on the results of an extensive review conducted at Davis’ corporate headquarters in Plainview, New York in October 2001. The JCAHO surveyors who performed the review found that Davis Vision demonstrated overall compliance with the Joint Commission's standards for health care networks. Davis Vision was required to meet standards addressing:

• The rights and responsibilities of members participating in its program
• Organization ethics
• Utilization management
• Credentialing of participating providers
• Leadership
• Human resources
• Management of information
• Performance improvement

The company received a score of 99 out of a maximum of 100 points, reflecting exemplary compliance with these critical functions.
