For the first time the state is offering long-term care insurance to active and retired employees and their eligible dependents. This is an employee-pay-all program available at discounted group rates from MedAmerica of New York.

The open enrollment period for active employees will continue until May 31, 2002. During the open enrollment period active employees are guaranteed issue and will not be subject to medical underwriting, meaning they will be guaranteed a policy without having to pass a physical exam. All other eligibles will be subject to underwriting and may be required to provide a complete medical history, submit medical records and/or undergo a physical exam.
